| Living In Malaysia > Kids Activities
There are numerous activities for children to become involved in.
There is a wide variety of sporting clubs and most of the International
Women's Groups have activities arranged for families with children.
MANZA arranges the KL Junior Athletics which is run on each Sunday.
There are bowling centers, indoor skating and roller blade parks,
indoor play centers, cinemas and amusement and video games centers.
Outdoor play areas are not as common since the climate is not particularly
agreeable, however they do exist and one particularly good one is
in the Parklands of KLCC at Petronas Twin Towers. There are some
private social and sporting clubs that cater for families with children.
Within and nearby to the expatriate areas there are numerous classes
available such as dance, drama, music and art.
The following centres provide a fun family day out:
1. Mines Beach Resort and Wonderland (Jalan Sungei Besi)
- offers water sports such as waterskiing, jetskiing, speedboating
and canoeing.
2. Petrosains (Level 4, Suria KLCC, Petronas Twin Towers)
- an interactive petroleum science discovery center.
3. Sunway Lagoon Theme Park (Jalan PJS 11/11, Bandar Sunway)
- offers a waterpark, wavepool, waterslides, and toboggan slide.
The nearby Sunway Pyramid Shopping Centre has
an ice skating rink.
4. Genting Highlands (45 minutes from KL) - offers a theme
park and swimming pool.
5. Templer's Park (Rawang, Selangor, 22 kilometers from
the city) - located on 4,000 hectares of forested hills, there is
a network of paths
and numerous pools and waterfalls.
6. Elephant Sanctuary about 1 hour drive from Kuala Lumpur.
You can take a swim with the elephants and see them in a relatively
natural
environment.
7. National Science Center - Located in Bukit Kiara opposite
Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club and Bukit Kiara International
Equestrian and
Country Club. The centre contains many different
and exciting exhibits of Science and Technology themes. The overall
concept of the centre is
educational but with a fun aspect to it. The
exhibits link science and technology with everyday life, religion,
knowledge and applications of
science within this arena. Interactive exhibits
are used together with fun activities and programmes.
