Our Services > Moving from Malaysia

The start of the next chapter in your life begins with a call to Crown Line to start the relocation process.

Pre-move Survey

You will be visited by a Crown Line Relocation Specialist. A detailed survey of what you are moving will be conducted. Our Relocation
Specialist
will make special note of any items that you have concerns about or that will require special packing, crating or handling. A full
explanation of the entire moving process will be given including packing, handling and loading techniques, packing time, transit time, customs
regulations at destination and insurance considerations.

Packing

The following pictures of our crews in action demonstrate the most appropriate packing techniques to ensure a safe transit.

Loading

For shipments that will occupy their own 20 foot or 40 foot steel shipping container, we will, wherever possible, load the container at the
client's residence. The container will then be sealed and hauled direct to the port. Container loading at residence reduces the handling of the
shipment and also gives the client peace of mind as they can see their shipment being secured at residence. Where access at residence
prohibits direct loading into the container or if a shipment is being sent under consolidation or as groupage, we will bring the shipment to our
fully secured warehouse. In such instances a loading chart is completed at residence to document that all the packages have been removed.
When the shipment arrives at our warehouse, the packages will be checked in to ensure that they have all arrived. Similarly when the shipment
is eventually loaded into its shipping crate (liftvan) or container, the packages are "checked out" again to ensure that everything is present
and correct.

There are two important considerations when loading a shipment into a liftvan or container.

First, a shipment must be loaded as snugly and compactly as possible in order to reduce the risk of displacement during transit. If the shipment
moves within its liftvan or container during transit, damage is more likely to occur.

Second is proper weight distribution of the packages within the container or crate. Loading from the floor of the container/crate up, the heaviest
items should obviously be at the bottom and the weight of the packages gets progressively lighter as you progress. The lightest items eg
lampshades will be loaded on top.

Similarly, the weight of a shipment should be distributed evenly throughout the length and breadth of a container or crate. If one side of a container
is loaded with heavy items and the other side with relatively light ones, crushing may occur even though there has been no displacement of the
packages. Loading and unloading of containers from vessels as well as the lateral motion vessels can experience during heavy seas and
ocean swells
can exert additional gravitational force on the contents of a container so that the "heavy" side of the container will become even
heavier when pressing against the relatively lighter side resulting in crushing.

Shipping

Crown Line works with established, reputable, forwarding and freight agents at all of Malaysia's main ports. We only use reliable sea and
air freight carriers who offer regular services to transport our shipments.

Pet Export

Crown Line can assist you with exporting your pet from Malaysia.
In order to do so you will need:

• An export permit stating that the animal is free from rabies and other communicable diseases.
• A health certificate, which will be issued once the following criteria are met;

1. The animal has had a rabies vaccination between 1 and 12 months prior to date of export.
2. The animal has been inspected by a government vet.
3. The animal's health records are complete.

These permits are issued by the Department of Agriculture and are valid for a period of 7 days
from the date issued. Crown Line can secure these documents for you, complete other export
formalities and arrange for the air freighting of the pet. The animal will then be subject to the
Quarantine Regulations of the destination country.

Vehicle Export

Crown Line can assist with the export of vehicles. It is a relatively simple procedure. The process involved is as follows:

• Arrange deregistration of the vehicle with the Road Transport Department.
• Collection of vehicle and transportation to the port.
• Arrange customs clearance and loading of the vehicle on vessel.

Destination Service

Crown Line carefully selects it's partners in countries where we do not have our own offices. Our partners are all established, successful and reputable companies in their own markets. As much as possible they are members of the same international industry associations that we are. As such, we are able to meet with our partners around the world at least once a year, and in many cases more often than that, in order to maintain and strengthen our professional relationships.

"We are fully aware that our job is only done once your shipment has been delivered safely."

Tick each item off as you complete it to put your mind at rest that nothing has been overlooked from your planning, and this alone will go a long way towards relieving some of the anxiety that the countdown to moving day inevitably brings.
